01About
Developer. Problem Solver. Technology Enthusiast.

Keagan van Rooyen
Software & IT Systems Developer
I build software and keep the systems around it running — and I care most about the point where the two meet a real business problem.
My foundation is formal: three consecutive National Certificates at CTU Training Solutions, moving from systems development (NQF 4) through software development (NQF 5) to cybersecurity (NQF 6). That sequence shaped how I think — first how systems fit together, then how to build them well, then how to keep them safe.
My first production work came during work-integrated learning at Axxess DSL, where I built a laundromat management application in PHP and MySQL. It taught me that a data-driven application is only as useful as the workflow it supports.
I then spent time as a financial advisor at Sanlam. It wasn't a detour so much as a crash course in sitting across from people, understanding what they actually need, and explaining complex products in plain language — skills I now use every time I scope software with non-technical colleagues.
Today, at Trihedron Group, I work across the whole stack of a growing engineering business: building and maintaining software, administering Microsoft 365 and cloud services, troubleshooting infrastructure, and finding work that should be automated. I use AI-assisted development deliberately, as a way to move faster without lowering the bar.
Software
Web applications, internal tools and automation — written to be maintained by the next person, not just to work today.
Systems
Microsoft 365, user access, cloud administration and hands-on troubleshooting across an organisation's day-to-day IT.
Security
Formal cybersecurity training applied to access control, administration and the everyday decisions that keep systems safe.
Business
Client-facing experience that keeps the focus on what people need, explained in language they understand.

Five areas, one connected practice. Explore how the pieces fit together.

The languages I build with: C# and ASP.NET Core for structured applications, Python for automation, and the web platform for interfaces people actually use.
The languages I build with: C# and ASP.NET Core for structured applications, Python for automation, and the web platform for interfaces people actually use.
Relational data from schema to query: designing tables, writing SQL and administering the databases that applications depend on.
The platforms an organisation runs on: Azure and Microsoft 365 administration, version control, networking and hands-on IT support.
Security as a habit rather than an afterthought — grounded in formal cybersecurity training and applied to access and administration.
Using AI to build faster and automation to remove repetitive work — with a growing interest in how both apply to engineering and manufacturing.
